A Batman #1 doesn’t come along very often. Well, unless you’ve been reading comics for the past 15 years, in which case, it’s come along a couple times already. Modern comic books! But even then, in what is about to be eight-and-a-half-decades of Batman that’s still not a lot of relaunches–and DC is going all-in to make this fourth one stand out.

The upcoming supervillain spinoff movie "Clayface" has all the signs of a terrific entry in DC's film portfolio, but will it be part of the DCU or expand of "The Batman?"

Based on a script written by horror aficionado Mike Flanagan ("Doctor Sleep"), DC is set to release a standalone spinoff surrounding Clayface. The body-morphing villain is not only getting a solo film but the film is set to take the villain into the horror genre.

DC Studios has finally found a director to mold Clayface. After several months of searching, Speak No Evil helmer James Watkins has been chosen to direct the feature based on the Batman villain, which has a script from horror maestro Mike Flanagan.
