SOUTH BEND — Notre Dame football won't be headed back to the College Football Playoff after all. Sunday’s long-awaited reveal kept Alabama at No. 9 despite a one-sided loss in the SEC Championship Game and jumped idle Miami (10-2) from No. 12 ahead of Notre Dame (10-2), leaving the Irish on the outside looking in.

SOUTH BEND — Now that Notre Dame football has been left out of the College Football Playoff, the transfer portal moves front and center. The new 15-day winter transfer portal window opens on Jan. 2 and runs through Jan. 16. The spring window for transfers has been eliminated.

Notre Dame competes in the ACC for all sports except football and hockey but maintains a scheduling partnership in football. Bevacqua publicly blasted the conference earlier this month, saying the ACC had “attacked its biggest business partner” by campaigning against the Irish.
