Netflix is the new home for the beloved children's TV show, the streaming platform announced Monday along with a special video of Cookie Monster eating the Netflix logo. According to a press release, Elmo, Big Bird and the rest of the "Sesame Street" gang will return in an all-new, reimagined 56th season of the show.

Sesame Street revealed it will air new episodes and 90 hours worth of old ones on Netflix starting later this year. It comes nearly 56 years after Sesame Street first appeared on PBS, where new episodes will air as well,

An HBO Max subscription is required to watch Sesame Street on the platform. Some social media users hoped that Netflix would allow viewers to tune into old and new episodes without requiring a subscription.
