GOLF.com on MSNA new Open heavyweight emerged at Portrush, and he’s totally anonymousMatthew Jordan is playing in his fifth major start at the Open Championship, and yet he's one of the tournament's biggest threats.
Matthew Jordan has +35000 odds in the 2025 Open Championship at Royal Portrush Golf Club. He will try for another strong showing after his 10th-place finish at this tournament in 2024. In the past year, Jordan has played in four tournaments. His best finish was 10th, his average finish was 28th, and he made the cut two times (50.0%).
Spieth entered Portrush with four straight top-25 Open finishes, so there should be plenty of confidence that he turns in a much better round on Friday. Making up a six-shot deficit will be tough, but if Spieth can get to even-par, or even one-under, he'll have a shot to get into the top 10 before the weekend.
The 2025 Open Championship is a tournament for long shots. Shane Lowry won at this year’s host course, the Royal Portrush Golf Club, in 2019 as a +8000 long shot before he teed off in Round 1. He wasn’t a favorite to win before Round 2 or Round 3 before becoming the overwhelming favorite heading into the final round.
