Huawei’s latest Mate 20 Pro The good news is, Huawei phone users can now unlock the bootloader on their phone using a service run by FunkyHuawei.

The confirmation follows an issue Huawei/Honor handset owners were experiencing earlier this month in accessing the bootloader unlock codes page on the Huawei website.

Eventually, HUAWEI said that it will issue unlock codes directly via an email support system. But now, in a dramatic about-face, HUAWEI is ceasing all support for bootloader unlocking.

Huawei's HONOR sub-brand is issuing bootloader unlock codes to users once again, via the XDA-Developers community. But the new approach pales in comparison to the original process.

Any product launched after today, May 24th, 2018, will not be eligible for a bootloader unlock code. For devices release prior to today, codes will only be available for 60 days.

Apparently, the Huawei Mate 30 series will feature an unlockable bootloader as the company aims to ship 20 million units.

Taking the message at face value, it sounds like Huawei is tired of troubleshooting problems that occur when users unlock the bootloader and flash custom ROMs or other officially unsupported software.
