Cameras inside the Men's Central Jail were shut off for maintenance when inmates stabbed one deputy in the head and attacked others on Sunday, according to Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department officials and sources inside the agency.

A deputy suffered a puncture-type injury and was taken, along with three others, to a hospital where they were treated and released, officials said.

Deputies who were allegedly attacked by several inmates at the Men's Central Jail downtown are recovering from injuries Monday and the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department is investigating the assault.
