Johns Hopkins University political scientist Hahrie Han has won a 2025 “genius” grant, the MacArthur Foundation announced Wednesday.

The mathematician is among three Massachusetts scholars who were awarded the 'genius' grant — $800,000 over five years.
Photographer Matt Black, UC Berkeley neurobiologist and optometrist Teresa Puthussery, and Stanford University chemical engineer William Tarpeh are also among the recipients.
Nabarun Dasgupta, an acclaimed UNC epidemiologist and researcher, is part of the MacArthur Foundation Fellows Class of 2025.
The MacArthur fellows receive a $800,000 prize paid out over five years that they can spend however they choose.
