Inter Miami registered their first victory of the MLS season in the absence of Lionel Messi, who stayed in South Florida with the team giving the 37-year-old some extra rest. Inter Miami also picked up their third win across all competitions and will now play in the Round of 16 of the CONCACAF Champions Cup.

Luis Suárez scored a goal and assisted thrice as Inter Miami pushed past the Houston Dynamo without Lionel Messi.

The game ended on a sour note for Inter Miami as Leo Afonso, Cremaschi and Jordi Alba were slapped with yellow cards in stoppage time and Ian Fray was shown a red card after the final whistle, a decision that drew the ire of Mascharano.
