New York City collected $48.6 million in revenue from the first month of its congestion pricing program that the Trump administration has moved to kill, a transit agency said. DOT Secretary Sean Duffy terminated the program, which began Jan. 5 this year and implemented tolls on vehicles entering Manhattan below 60th Street.

Duffy did not give a time frame for trying to shut down congestion pricing, saying only that federal officials would contact the state to "discuss the orderly cessation of toll operations." MTA CEO Janno Lieber said tolling would "continue notwithstanding this baseless effort to snatch those benefits away."

The MTA anticipates the fee will bring in nearly $500 million a year, or about $40 million per month.
