Hamas said it will release Israeli hostages as initially planned after holding “positive” talks with mediators, according to a statement by the militant group on Thursday.

Hamas has been holding talks with Egyptian and Qatari mediators in Cairo aimed at preserving the ceasefire and hostage release deal, which threatened to collapse after Hamas said it would not to release three hostages this Saturday as planned, accusing Israel of violating the deal.

The two foes are on track for a hostages-for-prisoners exchange on Saturday after a dispute that risked a resumption of fighting.
