SEATTLE — A second federal judge in two days has blocked President Donald Trump’s effort to end birthright citizenship for the children of parents who are in the U.S. illegally, decrying what he described as the administration’s attempt to ignore the Constitution for political gain.

A third federal judge will consider President Donald Trump’s push to end birthright citizenship after a second judge ordered a nationwide pause earlier this week. U.S. District Judge Leo Sorokin said he would take under advisement the request from 18 state attorneys general to block Trump’s executive order ending birthright citizenship for the children of parents who are in the U.

The Trump administration has agreed to keep private a list of FBI employees who worked on Jan. 6 cases unless it first provides a two-day head start for the employees to seek a court’s intervention.
