Special election Tuesday: One party has this edge in Iowa vote
Voters will decide between two candidates in the same Iowa town to fill a vacant legislative seat.
A special election on Tuesday features two candidates from the same small town in northwest Iowa. The outcome could be an indicator of political sentiment in rural Iowa after recent contests in the state — and across the country — have favored Democratic candidates.
According to the Iowa GOP, Larson's top priorities in office include "protecting landowner rights, providing property tax relief, and protecting our children."
Democrat Renee Hardman and Republican Lucas Loftin are competing in a special election for Iowa Senate District 16, which will be held Dec. 30.
Under the proposed redistricting map, four of the five Johnson County supervisors would share a district with a current colleague.
