An off-duty firefighter who happened to be travelling behind the bus as it returned to Minehead Middle School from Exmoor Zoo pulled several people from the wreckage. Now Mr Jones has spoken about his role in the response, doing shuttle runs on his quad bike to take eight people up to the pub for treatment.

A huge emergency response was on the scene after a "bus left the road" near Minehead. Three air ambulances, ten police cars, ambulances and fire engines were on the scene near Wheddon Cross in Somerset. An HM Coastguard and a police helicopter were also on the scene on the A396 Cutcombe Hill between Wheddon Cross and Timbercombe.
