A new wildfire was reported today at 2:39 p.m. in San Diego County. Miners Fire has been burning on private land. At this time, there is no data on the containment status of the fire and the cause has yet to be determined.

Turns out, the antelope squirrel is one of the most common mammals seen in the Anza-Borrego Desert area, and easily identified by a white stripe along the side and short, rounded ears. This is a desert dweller, not commonly found west of the mountains that form the rim of the desert basin.
