Timo Meier will play in his 600th NHL game against the Colorado Avalanche on Feb. 26. Meier began his NHL career with the San Jose Sharks. He was selected ninth overall in the 2015 draft and spent seven seasons with San Jose from 2016-17 until halfway through the 2022-23 season.

Former New Jersey Devils goaltender Vitek Vanecek is on the move again. The San Jose Sharks have traded the former Devil to the Florida Panthers in exchange for forward Patrick Giles.

The New Jersey Devils can search externally all they want to fill the void that will be left by Jack Hughes. And although it’s necessary that the Devils add before or at the 2025 NHL Trade Deadline, the answer they’re looking for is internal.

Struggling through another awful season, the Sharks could be on the verge of shedding several additional players.

With goalie Vitek Vanecek held out of the game for trade-related reasons, the Sharks got third period goals from William Eklund, Macklin Celebrini, Will Smith and Tyler Toffoli to help seal a 6-2 victory over the Buffalo Sabres at KeyBank Center.

The trade came a day after Vanecek was held off San Jose's lineup for trade-related reasons when he was scheduled to make a start against the Buffalo Sabres. Alexander Georgiev was forced to make starts on back-to-back knights and helped San Jose defeat Buffalo 6-2.
