GOP bill would force Michigan school board candidates to state their party affiliation
A GOP proposal would make Michigan’s school board candidates declare a party affiliation, a change that’s drawing criticism from local election officials and school board members.
The lineup of Democrats includes Salak, Brandell Adams, Martin Blank, Chedrick Greene, William Morrone and Pamela Pugh. The Republican candidates include Jason Tunney, Chadwick Twillman, Christian Velasquez and Andrew Wendt. The state Senate district encompasses parts of Bay, Midland and Saginaw counties.
The February primary and May general election will determine who represents the 35th District, potentially shifting the balance of power in the narrowly divided state Senate.
