A new state senator for Mississippi’s District 26 will be selected in the Dec. 2 runoff between Kamesha Mumford and Letitia Johnson.
JACKSON, Miss. (WTVA) — Gov. Tate Reeves set the special election date for a north Mississippi judicial seat. The election is for the Court of Appeals District 1, Position 1, which John Weddle temporarily occupies. The special election date is Nov. 3, 2026. The qualifying deadline is Feb. 2.
Mississippi Senate District 26 became vacant after John Horhn resigned to become mayor of Jackson. The winner will serve the remainder of his term.

A close race for Justice Court Judge District 3 in Rankin County led to a runoff between Adam Woods and Tamarra Bowie. Rankin County's District 2 voters went back to the polls Tuesday to vote in the runoff between supervisor candidates Derrel Palmer and Phil Schoggen.
