The Roosevelt Hotel’s “Asylum Arrival Center and Humanitarian Emergency Response and Relief Center” is being closed by New York City, according to Mayor Eric Adams.
The funding was clawed back as New York City denies allegations by tech billionaire Elon Musk the money was going toward “luxury” hotel lodging for migrants.
The program uses Customs and Border Protection funding and is managed by FEMA. It does not use money from FEMA’s Disaster Relief Fund.
The court ruled that the Trump administration had a narrowly defined path to withhold some funds to the city that had been approved by Congress.
