Gulutzan succeeds Pete DeBoer, who was fired on June 6 after guiding the team to Western Conference final berths in each of his three seasons. Dallas lost to the Vegas Golden Knights in 2023 and Edmonton Oilers in 2024 and 2025.

Multiple NHL sources said that Nill is set to bring Gulutzan back for a second run as the head coach of the Dallas Stars, which these days is a slow moving conveyor belt to the unemployment line.

Glen Gulutzan, who served as the Dallas Stars head coach from 2011-2013 will take over as the team's leader once again, according to ESPN.
