Indianapolis Motor Speedway and IndyCar Series president Doug Boles and three drivers sent to the back of the Indianapolis 500 finishing order focused on the future at Monday night's victory banquet.
The iconic race was won by Spain's Alex Palou, who is off to a dominant in 2025, winning all but one of IndyCar's six races so far. It was Palou's first win on an oval, but the three-time champion is that much closer to a quartet of titles with his 16th IndyCar win.
Three Indy 500 drivers, including 2nd place finisher Marcus Ericsson, were fined, suspended, and demoted in the race results after their cars failed a post-race inspection for technical violations.
Halfway through the race and as of this writing, eight drivers were out of the race but drivers like Josef Newgarden, seeking his third straight Indy 500 win, and Helio Castroneves, seeking his recording-breaking fifth ever Indy 500 win, were still in the mix.
