Smoke from California wildfires is still lingering Monday in the Las Vegas Valley as Clark County says it is working on an air quality update.

Hundreds of structures are threatened by a fast-moving wildfire that has scorched over 82,000 acres (about 332 square km) in less than five days in Central California, authorities said Tuesday.

Whittier College and the Habitat Authority joined forces with goats to study tools for managing wildfire fuel loads. What they found was published in the oldest botanical journal in the Americas.
