Passengers looking to fly directly from Delhi, India to the U.S. Capitol will want to book a flight with an airline aside from Air India. Air India announced Aug. 11, 2025 that it would be suspending direct flights to Washington DC.

Air India will suspend services between New Delhi and Washington, D.C. from September due to aircraft shortages caused by upgrades to its Boeing planes and as Pakistan's airspace ban for Indian carriers affects its international routes.

NEW DELHI- Air India has announced it will suspend its non-stop service to Washington, D.C., from Delhi, effective September 1. The decision means travelers from the U.S. capital will no longer have a direct flight option to India via Air India, which cited operational factors for the change.
