The American Meteor Society said it received more than 160 reports of a fireball sighting from observers in Georgia and South Carolina.

A glowing object lit up the sky, prompting dozens of calls to the authorities, as scientists scrambled to figure out what it was. It turns out that it was a meteor.

Residents across the CSRA, and even as far as Columbia, have reported seeing a fireball streak across the sky, Thursday. NewsChannel 6 has received numerous calls and messages regarding the sighting.
