A gunman killed at least three people at a Target store in the Texas capital before stealing two cars in a getaway that ended when police captured him on the other side of the city, authorities said.

Three people were shot to death Monday outside of a Target store in north Austin, Texas, according to police. The suspect is in custody after fleeing the scene.

Austin Police Chief Lisa Davis said the suspect is a man in his 30s with "a mental health history."
