Vondroušová beat Wang in the searing Berlin heat to claim her first WTA title since beating Ons Jabeur in 2023.

The stage is set for what promises to be an entertaining final at the WTA Berlin Open with the second WTA 500 title of this year’s grass-court swing will be on the line when former Wimbledon champion Marketa Vondrousova faces first-time WTA finalist Wang Xinyu.

This was Vondrousova's first victory over a current world number one, as she levelled her career head-to-head record with Sabalenka to 4-4
