As of Friday, more than 4 million, or 51%, of North Carolina's registered voters had already cast ballots by mail or in-person during the early voting period, which ends Saturday, Nov. 2 at 3 p.m.

Polling locations have closed in most of North Carolina. It’s time for the results. Here are early, unofficial election results for North Carolina and for Wake, Durham and Orange counties, according to the State Board of Elections.

Today is Election Day, with polls opening at 6:30 a.m. and closing at 7:30 p.m. Any voter in line at their assigned polling place at 7:30 p.m. should be allowed to vote, the State Board of Elections says. The busiest times are usually early morning and just before polls close, the state says.
