Lee Fire grows to 6th largest in Colorado history

RIO BLANCO COUNTY, Colo. — The Lee Fire in Rio Blanco County has grown to the sixth largest in Colorado history, according to the Colorado Division of Fire Prevention and Control. The fire was mapped with infrared technology at more than 106,000 acres as of Sunday.

Corrections facility evacuated as Lee Fire spreads southeast, becomes state’s 6th largest of all time

At last mapping, the Lee fire had grown to more than 88,000 acres, which would rank it sixth all-time among Colorado wildfires. It is burning to the north of Garfield County in Rio Blanco, but spread rapidly southeast on Friday and Saturday. Updates to the Lee and nearby Elk fires are being posted to Facebook.
