On January 22, 1959, a mining tunnel collapsed beneath the Susquehanna River, unleashing a flood that buried the Knox Mine. Twelve men were lost, and the region’s coal industry would never recover.

What started as a curious exploration quickly turned into a nightmare. While venturing into an abandoned mineshaft, we found ourselves caught in a sudden collapse that left us scrambling for safety.
