Ben Jealous is officially out as the Sierra Club’s boss after two turbulent years marked by infighting and drama inside the green group.

Progressive Wokers President Erica Dodt said in a statement Monday that the union was “heartened” to learn of Jealous’ termination for cause. Dodt cited the union’s “no-confidence” vote against Jealous one year ago, which she says was spurred by his “mismanagement of our organization’s strategy and budget and his ongoing attacks on our union.”

The Sierra Club’s board of directors voted to fire Ben Jealous, its executive director, on Monday, according to multiple reports.
