Texas has a new defensive coordinator ahead of its Dec. 31 Citrus Bowl matchup against Michigan. Head coach Steve Sarkisian announced Thursday that the Longhorns have fired defensive coordinator Pete Kwiatkowski and defensive pass game coordinator Duane Akina while hiring veteran Will Muschamp as defensive coordinator.
With Guilbeau opting out, the Texas secondary is now down two players who started for most of the regular season. All-American safety Michael Taaffe also will skip the Citrus Bowl in order to prepare for the draft.
With transfers and players opting out to prepare for the NFL Draft, Texas is down from 85 to 65 scholarship players ahead of the Cheez-It Citrus Bowl on Dec. 31, head coach Steve Sarkisian said
