Camp Fire Minnesota is located on the lands of the Dakota and Ojibwe people. Founded in 1910, Camp Fire is the first nonsectarian, interracial organization for girls in the United States. In 1912 the first Minnesota Camp Fire groups were organized. In 1924, Camp Fire Girls in Minnesota began operating its first summer camp program in Excelsior.
