Obviously there are a lot of parallels but Islam has better striking and seems to use trips more than Khabib, who relies on shooting for takedowns more. And on the ground Khabib was more smothering and liked to smesh whereas Islam seems less violent and more technical.

Hes also more unorthodox with his striking which adds to his unpredictability while Islam has a more predictable meat and potatoes style of striking. Islam also had a much better resume before coming to the UFC.

Nov 23, 2013 · Well Islam grew up training with Khabib under his father. And in Dagestan, they tend to cross train a lot before specializing. While Khabib has put on Judo clinics and there are photos of him wearing his black belt...so I would imagine the same for Islam holding the same rank. However, their major titles come from Sambo.

Arman was able to wrestle with an Islam with worse striking for three rounds, while losing every round, and Charles got dropped by an Islam with better striking, then subbed. I think Charles could likely grapple multiple rounds with Islam while losing every round, and I think today's Islam could likely KO Arman, or drop him and submit him.
