Forced bulbs and primroses are popping up in my 7a garden centers! 😍 It’s so exciting to look out on a dreary day and see such bright color. It doesn’t seem real. I like planting these garden favorites in pots or simple beds where I can throw on a blanket if we get any crazy frost moving through. I love a seasonal flower and forced bulbs are no exception. You have to plant them early for holiday bloom and the watching and waiting for the first flower seems to align perfectly with Advent. It’s an easy process but I think people are sometimes intimidated because it has to be done so early. You need paperwhite bulbs. I have purchased them from a variety of places over the years. Inspect your paperwhite bulbs for roots. After one week of adding water to your arrangement, you should see white roots, starting to push out from the base of the bulb. After seven days, if you don’t have any white roots, you should throw that bulb away.
