Sarah's garden stalwarts: roses Roses were introduced to the Perch Hill Garden 10-12 years ago, when Josie Lewis, the head gardener joined. She had wondered why there weren’t many in the garden, Perch Hill being an organic garden, it was difficult to grow them organically. Which turns out to not be true. So, they are selected for their really healthy, vigorous varieties. One of those being, ‘Cinco de Mayo’, and it flowers for four or five months, it has a really good perfume, an amazing variety.
