Last week, the SeaWorld San Diego rescue team received a call from a boater in San Diego Bay near Point Loma that reported a sea lion on a buoy with his had stuck inside a welded piece of metal, a rare position for a sea lion to be in. In response to the call, the SeaWorld Rescue Team requested the Port of San Diego Harbor Police Department (HPD) to confirm the animal’s location and the condition of the animal. As dawn breaks, the crew embark on day 2 of the sea lion rescue mission. Working along side the rescue team Rescate De Lobos Marinos, local vets and professionals at PROFEPA and PESCA ABC the team make their way to the island. For this pup, it was decided to disentangle on the boat platform. Everyone works in sync; the less the animal is under sedation, the better.
