Dr. James S. Harrison taught history and humanities courses at Portland Community College (Cascade Campus) beginning in 1993 and eventually became Social Sciences Faculty Department Chair. After receiving his BA, he served as a Peace Corps Volunteer teacher in Sierra Leone, West Africa. Subsequently, he earned an MA in US and African History from the City College of New York.In 2016, he gave a talk called "Imagining a World Without Whiteness."Dr. Harrison passed away in September 2022.
